A fatal three-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle is under investigation after claiming one life Tuesday morning on Interstate 95 in Baltimore City, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police.
The collision occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. on July 14 in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Russell Street (Exit 52), prompting a large emergency response and significant traffic disruptions during the morning commute.
MDTA Police officers responded to reports of the crash and discovered three vehicles involved: a blue Suzuki motorcycle, a silver Hyundai sedan, and a white Chevrolet SUV. Emergency personnel immediately assessed those involved, but despite lifesaving efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. The drivers of the Hyundai sedan and Chevrolet SUV were not injured during the incident and remained at the scene while investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Maryland Transportation Authority Police have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine exactly how the collision occurred. Investigators are expected to examine physical evidence, review any available surveillance or traffic camera footage, inspect the vehicles involved, and speak with witnesses to establish the sequence of events leading up to the fatal crash.
