Authorities are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist early Tuesday morning on Interstate 95 in Baltimore, Maryland.
According to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police, the collision occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. on July 14 in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Russell Street (Exit 52). Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a serious traffic collision involving multiple vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers found three vehicles involved in the crash: a blue Suzuki motorcycle, a silver Hyundai sedan, and a white Chevrolet SUV. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite the response of emergency personnel.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
The drivers of the Hyundai sedan and Chevrolet SUV were not injured in the collision and remained at the scene as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The MDTA Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation and is working to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
