Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred over the weekend on Ashby State Road in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, resulting in the death of a 44-year-old local resident.
According to the Fitchburg Police Department, officers and firefighters responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision at approximately 3:29 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Emergency crews arrived at the scene on Ashby State Road and found the motorcyclist critically injured following a crash involving another vehicle.
The 44-year-old motorcycle operator, who was a resident of Fitchburg, was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity has not yet been publicly released. Officials explained that, in fatal traffic crashes, the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is responsible for releasing the name of the deceased after the appropriate notifications have been made.
The investigation is being led by the Fitchburg Police Department in partnership with the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) Crash Reconstruction Team, which specializes in examining serious and fatal motor vehicle collisions.
