According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the crash occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. along Highway 11-17 near the intersection with Highway 527. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a serious collision involving multiple motorcycles.

When officers and paramedics arrived, they found several motorcycles involved in the incident. Despite emergency efforts, the 58-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity, pending notification of her family.

Following the collision, Highway 11-17 was temporarily closed in both directions between Highway 527 and MacGregor Road. Motorists experienced delays while investigators completed their work, and police thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the road closure.

The cause of the collision remains under active investigation. Such information could prove valuable in helping investigators determine exactly what happened.

The fatal collision has saddened both the Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie communities. As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to release additional information when it becomes available. Until then, police urge the public to rely on official updates and avoid speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
